Why we built FlighTV
FlighTV was created by two friends and coworkers who spend a lot of time flying for work. We wanted an easy way for our wives and kids to see where we were, when we were landing, and whether our flights were delayed, without having to keep reaching for a phone.
Then the algorithms found us. We started getting ads for standalone flight-tracking displays: dedicated little screens designed to sit on a desk or countertop and show airplanes moving across a map. We almost bought them.
Then we had a thought: why buy another screen when there’s already a much better one hanging on the wall?
So we built FlighTV for Apple TV.
We’re also big fans of the great flight-tracking apps already available on iPhone. But when we went looking for something that brought that same kind of experience to Apple TV, we couldn’t find anything we were happy with.
FlighTV is our answer. Add the flights you care about and watch them progress across a satellite map of the world from departure to arrival. Leave it running while you’re making dinner, spending time with the family, or waiting for someone to get home.
