Getting started
How do I add a flight?
Select the magnifier in the My Flights card, pick the airline, type the flight number and choose the date. FlighTV finds the schedule and puts the flight on the map. Hold select on an airline to mark it as a favourite so it sorts to the top.
How do I remove a flight?
Move the cursor onto the flight and hold the select button. To clear the whole list, hold select on the "My Flights" heading.
Why does the map zoom into the airport?
When a flight is within 24 hours of departure FlighTV zooms to the departure airport. Once the aircraft is airborne the map follows it, and after landing it shows the arrival airport.
What is explore mode?
Press the play/pause button on the Siri Remote to leave My Flights and roam the map. Swipe to pan, tap to zoom in, double tap to zoom out, and press the back button to return.
Flight data
The flight isn't moving or shows "Looking for signal".
Live positions come from community ADS-B receivers. Over oceans and in remote areas there may be no coverage, in which case FlighTV estimates the position from the schedule until a signal returns.
The times don't match my airline's app.
Schedules refresh every few minutes, but airlines sometimes publish changes to their own apps first. Always confirm times and gates with the airline.
Can I import my itinerary?
Yes. In Settings › TripIt, paste the private calendar (ICS) link from your TripIt account. Upcoming flights are added automatically and refreshed while the app runs.
Weather and storms
How current is the weather radar?
The radar layer is NASA GIBS global precipitation, which runs roughly four to six hours behind real time and updates every 30 minutes. It shows precipitation intensity, not lightning or turbulence.
Where do tropical cyclones come from?
The Atlantic and East Pacific from the US National Hurricane Center, the rest of the world from the Joint Typhoon Warning Center. Storms refresh every 30 minutes.
Subscription
What does FlighTV cost?
FlighTV is a subscription billed through Apple: $1.99 per month or $14.99 per year in the US, with everything included. You can set up your first five flights before the app asks you to subscribe.
How do I manage or cancel a subscription?
On Apple TV go to Settings › Users & Accounts › your account › Subscriptions. You can also manage it from the Subscriptions section of your Apple Account on iPhone, iPad or Mac. Cancelling stops the next renewal; you keep access until the end of the paid period.
I made a purchase but the app doesn't show it.
Open Settings in the app and choose Restore Purchases. Make sure the Apple TV is signed in with the same Apple Account used for the purchase.
Refunds
Apple handles all payments and refunds. Request one at reportaproblem.apple.com.
Privacy
FlighTV has no accounts and no servers. Your flights stay on your Apple TV. Details are in the Privacy Policy.
